I heard June 25th is a significant day in Korea.
Indeed,it is.
It's the day when the Korean War broke out.
What year was that, by the day?
The war erupted back  in 1950 on June 25th.
And the fighting ended in 1953 with an armistice agreement.
Oh, so that is why the North and South
still remain divided to this day.
That's correct.
We commemorate this day to remember all the fallen soldiers.
한국에선 6월 25일이 중요한 날이라고 들었는데.
그렇고말고.
그날은 한국 전쟁이 발발한 날이거든.
그럼 그게 몇 년도야?
그 전쟁은 1950년 6월 25일에 일어났어.
그리고 그 전쟁은 1953년에 휴전협정으로 끝났지.
아, 그래서 남북한이 오늘날까지 여전히 갈라져 있는 거구나.
그렇지.
우린 모든 전몰 장병들을 기억하기 위해서 이 날을 기념하는 거야.
